How to log into the Web UI of Director Mini

Director Mini can connect to a network via Ethernet or Wi-Fi. After Director Mini is connected to a network, you can use the following ways to access its Web UI. Using an Ethernet/Wi-Fi IP Address Ensure that Director Mini is powered on and has connected to a network. Swipe down from the top of the device's main screen to open the Control Center, where you can find the IP address of the Ethernet or Wi-Fi. Connect your computer and Director Mini to the same network. On the computer, open a browser, enter the IP address, and press Enter. Then you can see the Web UI login page. Enter your account name and password on the Web UI login page. The default account name is Admin, and password is Admin.   Using Windows Network Discovery Director Mini supports SSDP-based network discovery, which you can use to access the device. On Windows, you can use the File Explorer to discover Director Mini. This method applies to Windows 7 and later. The following uses Windows 10 as an example. Ensure that Director Mini is powered on and has connected to a network. Connect your computer and Director Mini to the same network. On the computer, open File Explorer. You can: Click , and select File Explorer in the start menu. Hold down the key and press E on your keyboard. At the left panel of File explorer, click Network. In the Other Devices area, the name of Director Mini device is displayed as "Director Mini + Device Name (Serial Number)". Find your Director Mini device based on the Serial number.  The serial number of Director Mini is the one that can be found on the back of the device, for example, A511220416050. Double-click the device icon to access the Web UI login page. Enter your account name and password on the Web UI login page. The default account name is Admin, and password is Admin.   Using MDNS Director Mini supports multicast DNS (mDNS), a simple, easy to build, user-friendly network discovery protocol. Thus, you can access the Web UI more quickly. Ensure that Director Mini and your computer is in the same local network. On the computer, open a browser, enter directormini.local or device name.local, and press Enter. Then you can see the Web UI login page. The default device name is "DM + Serial Number". The serial number of Director Mini is the one that can be found on the back of the device, for example, A511220416050. Enter your account name and password on the Web UI login page. The default account name is Admin, and password is Admin.

USB Modem supported by Magewell Products

As standalone devices, Ultra Stream, Ultra Encode and Director Mini can be used with a USB modem to get wireless network connection to do streaming. We have tested and validated the following ones in our lab to be compatible with our products. What can the USB-C port of Director Mini be used for

The USB-C port of Director Mini is a USB 3.0 Type-C port, and provides multiple functions for free usage. Connect to computer to transfer fileTap "> Settings > USB Type-C", and select "MTP mode" to transfer files between Director Mini and the computer. Connect to computer to output audio and video Tap "> Settings > USB Type-C", and select "UVC + UAC mode" to output audio and video to streaming software, such as Zoom and Skype. Connect to a USB HUB for more usageYou can use a USB HUB to connect a WEBCAM for audio and video input, or connect a USB flash drive for file transfer, or a USB keyboard for shortcuts control, etc. Output audio and video to an external screenIt also serves a display port to connect to an external screen, such as a monitor and HDTV, supporting 1920x1080@60hz or 1920x1080@50hz, which changes along with the show's frame rate. You can use a Type-C to HDMI / VGA / DP adapter to connect the USB-C port to the external screen, and select content to display on the external screen according to the prompt. It supports displaying clear program, duplicating the device screen, looping HDMI 1 or HDMI 2.Besides, when Director Mini is connected to an external touchscreen and set to "Duplicate Screen", you can use the external touchscreen to control the device, so as to enlarge your canvas for better scene editing, annotation, etc. * Notice for using the external touchscreen to control Director Mini: The external touchscreen must support HID multi-touch function (no need of driver). Connect the touchscreen and Director Mini with a Type-C to Type-C cable. If you use a Type-C adapter, please connect the Touch Function port of the touchscreen to the device. For details, please refer to your touchscreen's user manual. Select Duplicate Screen as the displayed content. The external touchscreen should keep the full screen mode and the same orientation as the Director Mini device.

How to use shortcuts for Director Mini

You can connect a USB keyboard, such as X-Keys and NumberPad, to the device, and then set shortcuts on the device or through the Web UI or Director Utility app. Then you can call shortcuts via the keyboard, device, Web UI or Director Utility App. You can also connect a Bluetooth keyboard to the device to use shortcuts. Please go to > Settings > Bluetooth, tap and then connect the Bluetooth keyboard according to the introduction on the interface.   Here introduce how to add and call shortcuts on the Web UI. For the shortcuts usage on the device and Director Utility app, please go to  > Settings > Help. Add Shortcuts Click the Shortcuts tab on the Produce page of Web UI. Click Add. Enter a custom name for your shortcut. Click Add Function, and then click the drop-down box of Function to select a function. As some functions may need more selections or operations, follow the on-screen guide to continue. Click Add. To add more functions for the shortcut, repeat step 4.     You can add up to 3 functions for one shortcut. When you press the key, it executes all the  functions at the same time. Click Find a key for the shortcut. Press a key on the USB keyboard to help find the key code, or you can enter a key code number. You can also press two or more keys at the same time Enter the key text on the key to help identify the key. You can also customize the text. Click Add to confirm. Click Add to finish adding this shortcut. Repeat step 2 to 7 to add more shortcuts. The shortcut list displays all the shortcut keys (including key text and the custom name) and their functions. Click a shortcut or press a key to test whether the shortcut works normally. (Optional) Click Key Code at the upper left corner to display or hide key code. Call Shortcuts Press a key on the keyboard. Click a shortcut in the Shortcut tab on the Produce page of Web UI. Open the Remote Assistant of Director Utility app, tap  > Shortcuts, and then tap a shortcut. How to use TouchOSC to control Director Mini

Director Mini is compatible with multiple OSC enabled apps, such as TouchOSC. We provide a sample layout program for TouchOSC, which helps you start using OSC control quickly and easily. The following introduces how to connect the TouchOSC app with Director Mini and get to start use the sample layout. Go to TouchOSC to download the TouchOSC app. On the Director Mini, go to > Settings > OSC Remote Control,  turn on Enable OSC, and set the following information. Host: enter the IP address of the device installed with TouchOSC, enabled app, which is used for Director Mini sending messages to the app (TouchOSC serving as the receiver）. Port (outgoing): enter the number of outgoing port. It can be entered in the TouchOSC app as the destination for the app sending messages to Director Mini. Port (incoming): enter the number of incoming port. It can be entered in the TouchOSC app to listen for received synchronization messages from Director Mini (TouchOSC serving as the receiver）.  Local IP address: view the IP address of Director Mini. Open TouchOSC, click the chain link button on the toolbar to open the Connections configuration window. Switch to the OSC tab page, enable the checkbox next to Connection 1, select UDP from the drop-down box and enter the following information. Host: The IP address of Director Mini. Send Port: The Port (incoming) you've set on Director Mini. Receive Port: The Port (outgoing) you've set on Director Mini. Click File > Open... , and open the Director Mini OSC layout file. Click the play button on the toolbar to switch to control surface view Start to control Director Mini via the control surface. How to transfer files with computer via MTP mode

If you need to transfer files between your device and computer, please go to > "Settings" > "USB Type-C" on your device, select "MTP Mode", and then select the appropriate transfer method according to your computer system.   Windows Connect the "OUT" port of your device to your computer using the USB-C cable. Open "File Explorer" on your computer and find "Director Mini" in "This PC" on the left side. Mac Mac needs to install software that supports Android file transfer. Here describes two available software. Using Android File Transfer Install "Android File Transfer" on your computer. Open "Android File Transfer" and drag it to "Applications". Connect the "OUT" port of your device to your Mac using the USB-C cable. Open "Android File Transfer" to access files and folders on your Director Mini device. Using OpenMTP Install OpenMTP on your computer. Open the OpenMTP software and drag the OpenMTP software to "Applications". Connect the "OUT" port of your device to your Mac using the USB-C cable. Open OpenMTP and you will see files of Director Mini on the right side of the window.  

How to use DJI SDR Transmission on Director Mini

The combination of Director Mini with the DJI SDR Transmission equipment provides a one-stop solution for video creators, achieving seamless integration of receiving, monitoring, recording, and streaming, significantly enhancing the flexibility and efficiency of video production, especially in complex environments. Video creators can enjoy a more efficient and stable video production experience. Whether in open spaces or urban environments, the device ensures high-quality transmission of video signals, providing strong technical support for video creation. Connecting Devices Connect the Video Source: Connect the DJI SDR transmitter to your video source (such as a camera, camcorder), ensuring a stable and lossless signal connection between the source and the transmitter. Create a Scene: On the Director Mini, create a new scene and select the HDMI source, such as HDMI 1. Connect the Receiver: Connect the HDMI port of the DJI SDR receiver to the HDMI 1 port of the Director Mini.  Real-time Monitoring and Operations: After the connection is made, the video source is immediately displayed on the Director Mini. At this point, you can perform real-time editing, recording, or streaming. Additionally, through the small screen on DJI SDR Transmission devices, you can monitor real-time signal strength, transmission rate, and other key information to ensure transmission quality.   Test Results Performance in Unobstructed Environments In an open environment without obstructions, such as urban roads, the DJI SDR transmission equipment maintains stable video signal transmission within a range of 200 meters.  Performance in Obstructed Environments In environments with obstructions, such as urban areas with tall buildings, the DJI SDR transmission equipment guarantees stable video signal transmission within a range of 100 meters.

How to use Magewell Director Plugin for Stream Deck

Since Sep 2024, Magewell has released the official plugin for Stream Deck, Magewell Director Plugin. It is designed to enhance production workflows by enabling seamless control of Director devices through Stream Deck, making the process significantly easier and more efficient. Supported Magewell devices: Director Mini （Firmware V3.0 and above）   Before using the plugin, you may need to prepare a few things. A Stream Deck device. The plugin currently supports the following Stream Deck models: STREAMDECK NEO STREAMDECK STREAMDECK + STREAMDECK XL STREAMDECK MINI Go to Downloads | Elgato to download the Stream Deck based on your OS, Mac or Windows, and install it on your computer. Go to Stream Deck Plugins | Elgato Marketplace to get the Magewell Director plugin to your account.  Your computer and the Director device should be in the same LAN.    Now let's start. Plug a Stream Deck device to your computer. Open the Stream Deck app, you will find the plugin on the right. If you haven't got the plugin from the marketplace, you can download it here, and then double-click the downloaded file. It will be automatically installed.  (Optional) If your Stream Deck device has dials, such as Stream Deck +, select the Stream Deck + in the upper left corner, and click "Keys" or "Dials" in the upper right corner to switch functions supporting Keys and Dials. On the Stream Deck app, drag a function to one box. Click "Input IP Address". Input the IP address of your Director device, and click "Connect". You can view the IP address of Director device in Control Center by swiping down from the top of the screen.   Click the arrow of the dropdown box of "Function", and select a function. Some functions need more selections or settings, please follow the on-screen guide. You can enter a Title if needed. Drag more functions to the boxes left to customize your profile. Use keys and dials on the Stream Deck device to perform the functions.   Example 1: Set to switch to the scene named as HDMI 1 Drag and drop "Scene" to one box. Click the arrow of the dropdown box of "Function", and select "Switch to the specific scene". Click the arrow of the dropdown box of "Scene name", and select "HDMI 1". Press the key on your Stream Deck device to switch to the "HDMI 1" scene.   Example 2: Use a dial to adjust video progress. Go to the Dials tab. Drag and drop "Video" to a circle box. Rotate the dial on your Stream Deck device to adjust video progress.
