Tutorial 1: Install Control Hub with Docker on Linux

Read this tutorial to learn how to install Docker on Debian or Debian-based Linux distributions so that you can run your Control Hub image.

Prerequisites

Before moving forward, make sure you meet the following prerequisites. Here's what you need:

  1. A Linux server either a physical one, a virtual machine or in a control hub server. Refer to the recommended configuration for the server system.
  2. For linux distributions which are not Debian or Debian-based, you need to install Docker and Docker Compose on your Linux server first. If you need help, follow docker installation guide(Linux). Some knowledge of Docker and Docker Compose is good to have.
  3. Some experience with shell and Linux commands since there's a lot of movement in there.
  4. Here we use Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS as an example. Operations for other debian or debian-based Linux distributions are the same.

    If you are using this tutorial in the future (from present time reference) and there is a much newer version of Docker and Linux version, please use those versions.

Step 1: Run wget

Run the following command to download and execute the auto_config.sh script file from Magewell website.

Running the script will install Docker for debian or debian-based Linux automatically. For linux distributions which are not Debian or Debian-based, you need to install Docker and Docker Compose on your Linux server manually.
wget www.magewell.com/files/tools/auto_config_control_hub.sh&&chmod +x auto_config_control_hub.sh&&sed -i 's/\r//g' auto_config_control_hub.sh&&wget www.magewell.com/files/tools/install.sh&&chmod +x install.sh&&sed -i 's/\r//g' install.sh&&./auto_config_control_hub.sh

Post Deployment

  1. To access Control Hub: open your browser and input IP address of Linux server, and 80 the default HTTP with the form as http://IP address.

    Then you should see a screen as the figure below.
    The default admin username and password both are Admin, case-sensitive. After the initial login, we highly recommended that you secure access by changing the default password.

  2. To connect your device to Control Hub, go to Add Devices to Control Hub Tutorial.
