Differences between the first and second generation USB Capture devices
You can distinguish between the first and second generation USB capture devices by the following:
The back of the second generation USB capture devices are engraved with "Gen 2" words.
Compare the part number (or known as “P/N”) of the second generation product on the web product page with
that of your device. If they are same, your device is a second generation product. Otherwise, your device
is a first generation product.
USB Capture HDMI
The P/N of the first generation USB Capture HDMI (or known as “USB Capture HDMI Gen 1”) is 32011;
the P/N of the second generation USB Capture HDMI (or known as “USB Capture HDMI Gen 2”) is 32060.
Gen 2 product supports up to 2K resolution while Gen 1 product supports up to 1920x1200 resolution.
Gen 2 product is compatible with the free
USB Capture Utility V3 tool provided by Magewell. The tool includes functions such as viewing and
setting capture-related parameters, automatic firmware upgrade, and exporting technical support with
one click.
Gen 2 product consumes less power than Gen 1 product.
USB Capture SDI
The P/N of the first generation USB Capture SDI (or known as “USB Capture SDI Gen 1”) is 32021;
the P/N of the second generation USB Capture SDI (or known as “USB Capture SDI Gen 2”) is 32070.
Gen 2 product supports up to 2K resolution while Gen 1 product supports up to 1920x1080 resolution.
Gen 2 product has better compatibility with SDI signals, including both 3G-A and 3G-B signals.
