Captured video is stretched or cropped
When the aspect ratio of the input video is different from that of the captured video, the capture device will stretch, crop, or add black edges to the captured video. The processing method that is applied depends on the AR conversion property of the capture device. If you want the captured video to keep the original scale, you can set the aspect ratio of the input video to the same as that of the captured video, or set the AR conversion property to Padding. Where shall I install the PCIe card?
Magewell PCIe cards use PCIe 2.x interfaces and above. Computer motherboard may have PCIe slots compatible with x1, x4, x8 and x16. When you need to connect PCIe cards to the computer, you just need to insert them into the slots accordingly. For instance, insert a card using PCIe x1 into the PCIe x1 slot. In addition, A PCIe card fits into a slot of its physical size or larger. Therefore, you can insert a card using PCIe x1 interface into a PCIe x4, x8 or x16 slots when the PCIe x1 slot has been occupied, which solves the problem of slot shortage. Usually, you can find a "PCIe" or "PCI Express" sign near the PCIe slot. Relevant Topic: The Application of PCI and PCIe in Video Capture Cards

Does Magewell have any PCIe capture cards fit for 2U chassis?
Yes. You can choose PCIe capture cards for 2U chassis according to the type of interfaces. For PCIe x1 interfaces, you can use low profile Pro Capture cards including Pro Capture HDMI, Pro Capture SDI, Pro Capture Mini HDMI, Pro Capture Mini SDI, Pro Capture DVI. For PCIe x4 interfaces, you can use low profile Pro Capture cards including Pro Capture Dual HDMI, Pro Capture Dual SDI, Pro Capture HDMI 4K, Pro Capture HDMI 4K Plus, Pro Capture HDMI 4K Plus LT, Pro Capture SDI 4K Plus, Pro Capture AIO 4K. For M.2 interfaces, you can use Eco Capture cards including Eco Capture Dual HDMI M.2, Eco Capture Dual SDI M.2, Eco Capture HDMI 4K M.2, Eco Capture Quad SDI M.2. With proper PCIe riser card, you can even use a standard profile PCIe card in 1U chassis.

OSD Effect Ⅰ: overlay static image on captured video
1Make a bitmap image The bitmap image should be a PNG image in RGBA format. That is, the image should be transparent where you need the captured video to be visible. We recommend that you set the size of bitmap image according to the capture resolution, thus the bitmap image won't be stretched when overlaid on the video. 2Enable OSD Call the driver panel of capture card. In the OSD tab page, enter the path of the bitmap image in OSD file path. Select the Enable OSD check box and click Save preset. How to distinguish Pro Capture cards of the same model on a computer
When multiple Pro Capture cards of the same model are installed in a computer, you can set the number on the rotary switch on each card for distinction. The number will appear as part of the name of the cards in the device manager and third-party applications. In the name of the one channel capture card "00 Pro Capture SDI", "00" is set by the rotary switch. In the name of the multi-channel capture card "02-3 Pro Capture Quad HDMI", "02" is set by the rotary switch and "3" represents the channel number. Relevant Video: Rotary Switch and LED Indicator

OSD Effect Ⅱ: overlay dynamic video on captured video
If you want to overlay dynamic video on the captured video, you can go to Download Center > Capture SDK to download SDK, and then refer to the examples in the SDK folder for custom development: 64-bit system users can view the sample program (OSDPreview.exe) under SDKv3\Bin\x64\Release. 32-bit system users can view the sample program (OSDPreview.exe) under SDKv3\Bin\Win32\Release. View the source code for the sample program under SDKv3\Examples\VC++\GUI\OSDPreview. Call the driver panel of capture devices
OBS Studio Under Sources, right-click Video Capture Device and then select Properties from the context menu. In the Properties for 'Video Capture Device' dialog box, click Configure Video to open the driver panel of capture device. vMix On the Input Bar, click the cog icon in the bottom right corner of the Magewell capture device to open the Input:(Magewell Capture Device) dialog box. In the Advanced tab page, select the Magewell capture device under Filters, and then click Properties to open the driver panel of the capture device. If you cannot find the Magewell capture device under Filters, check whether you have correctly added the device: namely, when adding the capture device as an input source on the Camera tab page, you need to select "Show legacy devices" at the bottom, and select the Magewell capture device starting with Video, for example, Video (00-0 Pro Capture Quad SDI). Wirecast Select the Magewell capture device in the layer and then the System Device Properties panel appears on the left side of the preview window. In the System Device Properties panel, click Configure to open the driver panel of capture device. For Wirecast 9.0.1 and above, it is not yet supported to call the drive panel of capture device. XSplit Broadcaster Select the Magewell capture device in the source list, and then click Settings. In the Cam tab page, click Configure, and then click Video Input to open the driver panel of capture device.

How to reduce the latency of Pro Capture cards
In the workflow, many factors may bring in latency, for example, the capture card, the application, and the operating system. How to reduce the latency You can enable the Low latency mode in the driver panel of Pro Capture card, but it will affect the performance of multiple streaming. Steps of how to enable Low latency mode are as follows: Call the driver panel of capture card, click the the Capture tab in the Video tab page, and then select the Low latency mode check box. You can also integrate your application with Magewell SDK and call the API of partial completion notification feature to achieve lower latency. The test results based on Pro Capture HDMI 4K PLus Processing latency: the time it takes the application to process one frame Total latency: the time gap from the entry of one frame to being completely processed by the application Test application: libjpeg-turbo (used to compress captured images as JPEG files)

Can the heat sink or fan be removed from the capture card?
Except that you have better cooling solutions for chips, it's not recommended to remove the heat sink or fan, which will affect the stability of the capture card. You should pay special attention to heat dissipation when using the mini PCIe cards and M.2 cards. Because those cards are generally used for small case, which is more difficult to dissipate heat compared with the normal case.
